It has been reported that Sportech has reached an agreement with Southern California Off Track Wagering which will see the international gaming group open up to 10 high-end bar and restaurant facilities which will offer wagering on simulcast horse races.

“We are delighted to have received approvals to develop a branded sports bar and betting retail chain,” Sportech chief executive Ian Penrose has been quoted as saying in an article by the Liverpool Daily Post.

“We have worked closely with the horse racing and licensing authorities in California for a number of years, and I am pleased that we have reached this important milestone. We look forward to establishing a dynamic and successful venture.”

The report states that the first of the facilities is scheduled to open in Norco, Riverside County this coming summer.

“We are pleased to be working with Sportech to create these new first class facilities in order to showcase the great sport of horse racing and to attract new customers,” Southern California Off Track Wagering Inc. Chairman Jack Liebau was quoted as saying.
