A pair of $22,000 conditioned features on Monday (Dec. 15) at Woodbine Mohawk Park saw polar opposite results, with the red-hot Chic Choc Rose delivering as the 4-5 favourite and Kadiddle lighting up the toteboard at 33-1 in their respective splits.

Both features were for five-year-old and younger trotters who were non-winners of three of $50,000 lifetime while four-year-olds and younger who were in for a tag of $60,000 were also eligible. A winner in four of her last six entering the evening, Chic Choc Rose (pictured above) was up first leaving from the rail with James MacDonald in tow in the field of nine.

The Dave Menary trainee protected her inside starting position early, getting away second behind Ready For Landing (Jean Rene Plante) through a :29 opening panel. The trotters raced single-file to the half in :57.3 before MacDonald tipped a revved-up Chic Choc Rose midway around the final turn, quickly powering alongside the leader at three-quarters in 1:26.2. Chic Choc Rose quickly cleared to the lead turning for home before coasting home a measured three parts of a length in front of Sunday Shoes (Doug McNair), who followed the eventual winner's move turning for home, in 1:55.2. Ready For Landing held sway for the third spot.

Owned by the 2025 Dan Patch Award winning Owners of the Year, Burke Racing Stable of Fredericktown, PA and Weaver Bruscemi of Canonsburg, PA, Chic Choc Rose has won 10 of 22 in 2025. The daughter of Royalty For Life-Torches Angel has racked up earnings of $95,982 on the season and $110,132 lifetime. Chic Choc Rose paid $3.80 to win.

In the finale, Kadiddle made the toteboard go kaboom as the longest shot in the field as she and driver Scott Young timed their move just right to deliver the upset.

Leaving from post six, Young hustled Kadiddle off the wings, crossing over to the cones before settling into third on the first turn with Flashchap (Louis-Philippe Roy) trotting around Veracruz (Billy Davis Jr.) to cut the quarter in :28.2. Manoah (Travis Henry) brushed to the lead from fourth on the backstretch, reaching the half in :57.4. Kadiddle flushed the cover of Veracruz on the final turn, poised to strike from second-over with Manoah reaching three-quarters in 1:26.2. Kadiddle ripped off cover with a head of steam as Manoah raced gamely on the lead. Trotting home in :28.2, Kadiddle nailed the favourite in the final strides to win by a half-length in 1:55.2 over Manoah, Veracruz held for third.

Jerry Duford trains Kadiddle for Home Stretch Holdings of Rockford, Ont., who also bred the mare. The four-year-old rookie daughter of Kadabra-Dottie has won six of 30 on the year, banking $94,840 in the process. Kadiddle returned $69.80 to win for her backers at the windows.
