Payments Approved For Cancelled Fraser Dates

The Harness Racing B.C. (HRBC) Board of Directors met on Tuesday, Dec. 14 to discuss the financial hardships resulting from the cancellation of races in December.

The majority of the Dec. 4 program (Races 3 through 9) at Fraser Downs was cancelled due to track conditions followed by the cancellations of the Dec. 5 and Dec. 11 race dates prior to the meet's finale, which was held on Dec. 12.

With much discussion, a decision was made to assist HRBC members during this difficult time and a motion was passed by the Board as stated below:

  • To pay the horses that were entered to go on Dec. 4, 2022, Races 3 through 9, the sum of $100 per horse; excluding scratched horses from the Races 3 through 9 on Dec. 4, 2022.
  • To pay the horses that are to be entered to go the first two days of racing in February 2023 the sum of $500; excluding scratched horses.

"We appreciate your understanding and patience during this difficult time," the HRBC Board of Directors said in a message posted on social media Tuesday.
