Staffing Changes At OHHA

Tomorrow, December 16, 2016 will mark the last day of work for Ontario Harness Horse Association (OHHA) Executive Secretary Yvonne Smits.

After 20 years working for the association, Smits has decided that the time is right for her to retire.

“Yvonne has been with the association for so long that she has an understanding of all of the efforts that have been made over the years to benefit our membership,” stated OHHA President Ken Hardy. “It’s like we are losing our resident historian and a trusted, dedicated employee, however I understand the desire to slow down a little.”

For many of the members of OHHA that have been speaking with Smits over the years, there was obviously some familiarity that will be missed.

“Hopefully we have addressed that with our new executive secretary, as Sheri Minler- Grabatin will be taking over the position, and she is well known to most of our members,” stated OHHA General Manager Brian Tropea. “Sheri has been working in the office under Yvonne’s direction for the past two weeks and we envision a seamless transition.

“Yvonne has dedicated a major part of her life to serve our membership, and on behalf of myself, the directors, and the members of OHHA, I want to offer our thanks for her service and wish her all the best in her retirement.”
