Odds-on favourite Ideal Perception reached for the point and held the lead through the finish to post a 1:53 victory in taking the $13,000 Horses & Geldings Preferred Pace at Flamboro Downs on Wednesday night (Dec. 14).
Driver Austin Sorrie sent the Anthony Beaton trainee to the top before a :28 first quarter and maintained a pace which kept all his rivals chasing. Past a :56.2 half and 1:24.1 three-quarters, Ideal Perception sealed the deal in the lane with a 2-1/4-length win over pocket-sitter P L Oliver with Sea Laird chasing in third and Clever Character finishing fourth.
A five-year-old stallion by American Ideal, Ideal Perception competes for owner S S G Stables. He won his 15th race from 87 starts and has now earned $268,782. Ideal Perception paid $3.50 to win.
