Holland Highlight Reel At Yonkers

Brent Holland threw down the gauntlet entering Yonkers Raceway final weekend of the season, winning four races during Friday night’s (December 14) 10-race card.

The Holland highlight reel began rather innocently when even-money Lone Raider ($4) went the distance in the $18,750, fourth race claiming handicap pace (1:53.3).

He then broke out the bombardier, with 38-1 Amateur Hour ($79.50) closing from sixth off the final turn to snap 22-1 Ella Michelle A (Eric Goodell) in the $29,000, sixth race pace (1:54.2). Those two prices combined for a $721 exacta, $2,691 triple and $19,040 superfecta (base $2 payout).

Holland came right back in the $23,000, seventh race pace, again closing from sixth, this time with All About Madi ($8.30) in 1:54.1. It was the 25th career win for the five-year-old daughter of Brandons Cowboy, owned and trained by Brittany Robertson.

Tired of those come-from-behind tactics, Holland and Vague Traces ($10.20) finished what he started in the $23,000 pacing finale (1:53.3).

The Raceway wraps its 2018 season Saturday night (December 15, first post 6:50 p.m.) before a ‘French’ Sunday matinee (December 16, first post 11:45 a.m.).

A friendly reminder from Yonkers Raceway that Saturday evening’s Pick 5 wager starts with a carryover of $2,258.31 and a $10,000 guaranteed pool. The guarantee is in conjunction with the U.S. Trotting Association’s Strategic Wagering Program.

The Pick 5 is a 50-cent base wager comprising races six through 10 on Saturday night. It has no consolation payoff, meaning if no one selects all five winners (as was the case Friday night), the entire pool (minus takeout) moves to the next racing program.
