It has been reported that a 10-year race-date agreement for thoroughbred racing in the state of Maryland has been signed between the Maryland Jockey Club, the Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association and the Maryland Horse Breeders Association.
An article by The Sports Network explains that Maryland thoroughbred horsepeople will have the opportunity to race during 146 race dates in 2013, and that the contract ensures at least 100 live race dates for each of the nine remaining years spanning the contract.
"I am confident and pleased via this agreement," said Stronach Group Chairman Frank Stronach. "We will now have long term stability, year round racing and stabling, an attractive purse structure, promise for the breeding industry and a strong foundation to restore Maryland racing to its pre-eminence in North American racing."
