Pinner will be searching for his fourth win in a row Saturday afternoon at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park.
First-race post time for the action packed 15-dash card is 1:00 p.m.
Marc Campbell will steer the seven-year-old Pinner from Post 4 in the $2,000 feature for co-owner and trainer Brian Ladner and co-owners Lillian and Kevin Ladner, all of Charlottetown. The son of Mach Three is riding a three-race win streak and is the morning-line favourite to land in the winner’s circle.
His main competition will come from Bunny Mach (to be driven by Jason Hughes) off the rail and Artist List (Mark Bradley) from Post 2. Also in the field is Stayoutofmyaffair (Kenny Arsenault), Blu Meadow Willie (Brodie MacPhee), Dance Hanover (Brian MacPhee), Nobestbfor (Walter Cheverie) and Doll R General (Mark McKinnon).
The open trotters are on hiatus for the week, leaving a field of nine trotters racing for $1,100 in the top trot event of the day. JK Queen is the early favourite for driver Walter Cheverie, trainer and co-owner Joe Smallwood of Stratford and co-owner Norman Clarey of Charlottetown. Cheverie will have to map out a perfect trip to win, as he is shouldered with the dreaded Post 8. Other top entries include Sandhill Angel (Arsenault) off the rail and Incredible Her Bee (Campbell) from Post 6.
The $1,750 back-up pace will line up for the Race 15 finale. McJestic is the early favourite for driver Corey MacPherson and owner-trainer Troy Murray of Cornwall. The four-year-old son of McArdle will face off with Libertys Art (Gary Chappell), Lucky Encounter (Cheverie), Talk Back (Arsenault), Veronicavermillion (Brodie MacPhee), Honor Roll (Danny MacDonald), Every Day (Brian Andrew), Cambest Kisser (Jason Hughes), and Toad River (Ken Murphy).
