Medusa stalked Spreester from the pocket, then kicked by her in the Lightning Lane to capture Monday’s $20,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.
Although Spreester held off the outside challengers, she was helpless against the attack inside from Medusa, the 8-5 favourite. The 5-year-old daughter of Bettor’s Delight-Mythical scored in 1:54.1 for Tony Hall, a length better than Spreester, while Skippin By rallied from last for show.
Randy Bendis trains Medusa, who now boasts $385,952 in career earnings, and owns with Tom Pollack.
Dave Palone and Hall each piloted four winners on the 14-race card.
