Royalty Beer blew out his top-level trotting rivals at Flamboro Downs on Thursday, Dec. 11, bottoming out the field in a dominant four-length victory in the $11,000 Preferred Trot.

In line to Samuel Fillion, he darted out from the rail to possess the lead to the quarter in :28.4 and set to work adding to his cushion as the field of nine approached the stands. He was up by three lengths at the half in :59 and had nine lengths on the rest at three-quarters in 1:27, and the gelding jogged to the line to finish a 1:58.2 victory. Serenity Cruise (Travis Cullen) charged for second, followed by a closing Delcrest Brent (Steve Hudon).

Royalty Beer has ruled the Preferred ranks in recent weeks with three wins in his past four starts for trainer Jean-Francois Maguire. The six-year-old son of Royalty For Life-Beer Maggs, owned by Ecuries Maguire Inc. of Sainte-Marie, Que. and Jean-Francois Maguire of Carlisle, Ont., is now 34-for-106 lifetime with $438,927 in earnings. He has racked up 16 victories in 33 starts this year. The win payout was $2.80.
