The Indiana Horse Racing Commission approved Harrah’s Hoosier Park’s 2021 live racing dates during their regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, Dec. 10.
The 2021 season, which offers 160 days of live harness racing, will begin on Friday, March 26 and extend through Saturday, Dec. 4. With a daily post time of 6:30 p.m., Harrah’s Hoosier Park’s 28th season will not only offer an extended racing season but will also bring back Sunday live racing cards.
Fresh off the heels of the 2020 live racing season where Harrah’s Hoosier Park posted a sensational all-sources handle increase of over 30 per cent from the previous year’s numbers, the 2021 live racing season will feature some exciting new additions.
Beginning on March 26, racing will be held on a Wednesday-through-Saturday schedule through mid-May before adding Sunday evenings. The full schedule continues through September before dropping back down to a Wednesday-through-Saturday schedule through Dec. 4. For the first time ever, Harrah’s Hoosier Park will also offer live racing on both the night before Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving night.
“With the success of the 2020 racing season now in the rear view mirror, the Harrah’s Hoosier Park racing team now has its sights fully focused on 2021 and building on the momentum that has been established,” Rick Moore, Harrah’s Hoosier Park’s vice president and general manager of racing, noted. “To that end, planning begins today for the Friday, March 26 opening and the 159 racing days beyond. We remain committed to the highest quality of racing and look forward to welcoming live racing back to Harrah’s Hoosier Park in March.”
