Inittowinafortune, who was an early Fall purchase, captured her second $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) Two-Year-Old Filly Pace Final thanks to an impressive triumph Tuesday at Dover Downs.
With Tim Tetrick at the controls, Inittowinafortune captured the lead at the start and dictated the winning fractions for a 1:55.3 victory in the final DSBF event of the season. Blush With Pride, reined by Ben Stafford, Jr., closed well for second with By Design and Art Stafford, Jr. finishing third.
Daryl Bier, always on the lookout for a horse to add to his modest stable, found that breeder-owners Jerald Viviani and Sue Phillips residents of Illinois, decided that to race Inittowinafortune in Delaware where she was eligible to the DSBF program was too difficult for shipping, Bier quickly purchased the Cams Fortune-Cuzurinittowinit two-year-old.
“I knew right away after training her the first time that she was a good filly,” stated Bier. “I drove her in her first few starts at Harrington, but when I hurt my back after a racing accident, my partner Charlie Dombeck and I decided to ask Tim Tetrick to drive her in the Delaware stakes.”
Tetrick drove her to win the Harrington $100,000 final and for both her Dover prelims and final victories.
Inittowinafortune concludes her freshman campaign with eight wins, two seconds and two thirds earning $142,177 in purses.
Vic Kirby highlighted a three-win night by driving Scott Woogen’s homebred, K Js Caroline, to a 1:55.3 score in the $20,000 DSBF consolation. The John Wagner-trainer Roddys Bags Again-Dillgaff filly won for the sixth time this season. Ally Wishes (Tony Morgan) was runner-up with Seboomook Boo yah (Allan Davis) a close-up third.
