Sophomore trotter Quantum Incredible rallied home from the backfield to edge out favourite Captain J T and Northern Inferno at the wire in Georgian Downs' $39,200 Innisfil Cup Claiming Series Final on Saturday evening

. The series is for trotters that are non-winners of $60,000 lifetime as of Nov. 12, 2011 racing for a claiming price of $15,000.

In the sixth race feature event, Bank Statement (James MacDonald) hustled off the gate from Post 8 to establish the early lead over the nine-horse field, but came under attack as he approached the opening quarter mark.

Favourite Tsunami Dream (Jason Brewer) pulled the pocket just as second choice Captain J T (Brandon Campbell) decided to move from third and had to go three-wide. Tsunami Dream cleared to command past the :28-second first quarter mark before Captain J T moved into the top spot.

As Captain J T led the field to the half in :57.3, Northern Inferno (Paul MacKenzie) angled off the pylons from fourth and advanced into a gapping two-hole leaving eventual breaker Valle National (Robert Shepherd) uncovered with the Scott Coulter-driven Quantum Incredible on his back.

Coulter sent Quantum Incredible three-wide past the 1:27 third quarter station and began to apply pressure to the leader with Northern Inferno slipping in between the two. Quantum Incredible wore down Captain J T in the final strides to prevail by a neck in a career-best 1:57.4 while Northern Inferno finished half a length behind in third.

Quantum Incredible won his first leg division of the series on Nov. 26 and was a close second in the second round on Dec. 3 for trainer Mike Sinclair and owner Steve Organ of Aurora, Ont. He paid $21.50 for the mild 9-1 upset in the finale.

After going winless in five starts as a freshman, the Credit Winner-Liviosa colt has won three of his 20 starts this year while scoring a pair of seconds and thirds. The New York Sire Stakes competitor has earned $47,059 of his $64,395 bankroll this year.
