Driven by Nick Steward, The Loan Ranger prevailed off a perfect pocket trip in the featured $8,500 Preferred 3 Pace on Monday evening (December 10) at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
Adkins Hanover got the first call out of post five and he worked for the lead through the first turn into a :27.1 quarter landing ahead of inside starter The Loan Ranger. As he fronted the field to the half in :58.1, Shifty Norm tipped out from third and eventually gained a short advantage past the 1:27 third quarter mark. However, The Loan Ranger angled out three-wide turning for home and defeated Shifty Norm by one length in 1:56.4. Jake Parrish came on for third, with the pacesetter fading to a sixth-place finish.
The victory was the seventh of the season for The Loan Ranger, who has hit the board 19 times in 42 starts this year. He has banked $58,265 of his $131,708 bankroll during his current five-year-old campaign. Peter Core trains the homebred Up The Credit gelding for owners Donald and Heather McGregor of Camlachie, Ont.
