ER Mr T celebrated the biggest payday of his career when he captured the lion’s share of the $40,800 purse offered in Monday’s Innisfil Cup Claiming Series at Georgian Downs.
In rein to trainer/driver Rick Baker, ER Mr T got away third and sat third through the opening half while race favourite Hallucination threw down fractions of :28.3 and :58. Baker marched his charge to the top past the half and led the trotters past the three-quarter pole in 1:27.3 before using a :30.4 closing quarter to seal the deal by 3-1/4 lengths in 1:58.2. Ringside Seats tagged along to finish second, while Hallucination finished third.
Sent off at odds of 3-1, ER Mr T improved this year’s record to 9-1-2 from 30 starts this season with the win. The 12-time winner, who is owned by Peter Dickey of Cookstown and Leo Baker of Keswick, ON, now boasts lifetime earnings of $84,041.
