Alexachase pulled her second upset in less than a month to win Monday’s $23,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace over a rain-soaked Dover Downs.

After setting a lifetime best clocking of 1:51.2 to win a winners-over pace, Alexachase stepped up to the top distaff pace of the week and found room in deep stretch to overtake battling leaders Monochromatic and Chancey Lady. Closing along the passing lane for driver Bret Brittingham, Alexachase flew through between horses to power to a 1:51.2 victory. Only last month Brittingham drove the four-year-old daughter of Bettors Delight-Jett Away to a 16-1 surprise. Monochromatic nipped Chancey Lady for second.

Johnny Waite trains Alexachase, which he owns with his wife Kimberley, who is named for his young daughter and son. Alexachase won for the sixth time this season advancing her earnings to $60,710 this year.

In the $16,000 Filly and Mares Winners-Over pace, Montrell Teague drove No Bad Luck right to the front and never looked back en route to a 1:53 conquest, her sixth win of the year for owner-trainer George Teague, Jr. Shine N Shimmer got up for second in front of Madges Lil Fortune.

The victory was number six of the season giving the Badlands Hanover-Gee Im Lucky five-year-old earnings of $122,850 this year and $420,296 in her career.
