Mud Pie Hanover wrested the early lead from Red Star Hottie, then kept her pocketed the rest of the way as she captured Friday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Pace
at The Meadows.
After that early tussle for the front, Eric Ledford gave Mud Pie Hanover a :30-second second-panel breather. That was all she needed to blaze home in :55.3 and triumph in 1:53, downing Red Star Hottie by 1-1/2 lengths. Crossthreaded finished third.
Jason Robinson trains Mud Pie Hanover, a five-year-old daughter of Allamerican Native-Mud Hen who now boasts $229,759 in career earnings, for Robert Main.
Dave Palone drove four winners — three for trainer Ron Burke — on the 15-race card.
