Goldies Rockin and Fearless Shelia each continued their win streaks in the Pop Up Series for pacing fillies and mares after they won their respective splits, each worth a $15,000 purse, on Thursday evening (Nov. 30) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Leaving hard from post seven, Goldies Rockin and James MacDonald secured the lead and never looked back through panels in :27.2, :56.3 and 1:25.2. Goldies Rockin only accelerated in the stretch to further her lead to a 3-3/4-length victory in 1:54.3. E L Citadel (Ryan Desroche) was second with Share The Moment (Travis Cullen) third.
The four-year-old Rockin Image mare is trained by Richard Moreau and owned by Sylvain Cote and Robert Bernicky. She earned her sixth win of the season from 30 starts and her 12th career victory, pushing her career earnings to $88,232. Goldies Rockin returned $2.60 to win.
Fearless Shelia capped off the Thursday evening card with a win in the second Pop Up Series division as her sweep of the series continues, too.
Louis-Philippe Roy and the Brett Lester student got away fourth off the car and through an opening panel in :27 before they swept to the top to take over. After posting panels in :56 and 1:24.3, Fearless Shelia sprinted home to a 2-1/4-length triumph in 1:54.4. Brynley Seelster (Tyler Borth) finished second and Kickin Cowgirl (Sylvain Filion) completed the top three.
Owned by Michel Letarte, the four-year-old Fear The Dragon mare earned her eighth seasonal tally from 40 outings and her 13th career victory. She moved her bankroll to $89,312. Fearless Shelia returned $3.80 to win.
