It was worth the drive to Woodbine Mohawk Park for the Bob McIntosh rig, as the Hall of Fame horseman went three-for-three with his starters.
McIntosh celebrated a win with A Royal Line in the second leg of the Harvest Series for three-year-old trotting colts and geldings.
The homebred son of Royalty For Life-Direct Dial was treated to a two-hole trip by Trevor Henry, who stalked Northern Tailwind through panels of :29, :58 and 1:27 before taking on that foe in the lane. A Royal Line stormed home in :28.1 to win by 3-1/2 lengths over Okeanos in 1:55.2. Taking home third prize was Stormont Rare.
Sent off at odds of 8-1, A Royal Line improved his 2019 record to 3-3-0 from 19 starts with the win. Oldford Racing LLC of Port Huron, MI recently purchased the gelding who pushed his lifetime earnings over $100,000 with the victory.
McIntosh and Henry also joined forces to score with Splurge On Me (Race 3 – 1:53.4) and Undefiable (Race 8 – 1:53.3).
The hat trick performance for McIntosh gives him 4,409 winners over the course of a career that has witnessed him rack up purse earnings in excess of $100 million.
