Stella Hall made a round trip to victory lane at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Sunday evening thanks to her victory in the featured $14,000 Preferred Trot.

On the heels of a 1:58.4 triumph in the class one week ago, Stella Hall survived a first-over journey to win this evening’s assignment by a nose in a time of 1:58.2. Silverado Dream (Pierre Bovay) set fractions of :29.1, :59.2 and 1:28.2 before being overtaken. Stella Hall and driver Denis St. Pierre came first over on the way to the half, and despite the rugged trip she picked up the win.

Star Ruffnready (Rheo Filion) tagged along for most of the mile before storming onto the scene and finishing a narrowly-beaten second. Silverado Dream got soft late and wound up settling for third prize in the seven-horse affair.

Forest Ridge Stables of Ottawa, ON own the six-year-old Angus Hall miss, who won for the 21st time in her career. Sunday’s win bolstered this year’s record to 6-5-5 from 31 trips postward. The $7,000 payday increased her lifetime earnings to $182,375.
