Details have been announced for the upcoming stallion career of Winners Bet, who will be retired and stand stud starting in 2025.
Winners Bet (2, 1:54.1; 3,1:51; 4,1:49.3-‘24; $1,713,147), the richest and fastest son of Walner, will stand at Blue Chip Farms in Wallkill, New York.
Owned by Lindy Farms and Robert Rudolph, and trained by Domenico Cecere and Nancy Takter throughout his career, Winners Bet is a multiple stakes winner at ages two, three and four.
At two, he won the William Wellwood Memorial and a division of the Kindergarten Classic. At three, he won divisions of the Stanley Dancer Memorial and Reynolds Stakes, and was the runner-up in the Canadian Trotting Classic. This year at four, he set multiple stakes and track records when winning the Graduate Series (final and two legs), Ceasars Trotting Classic, Charlie Hill Memorial and last month’s Breeders Crown Open Trot at The Meadowlands, where he set the stakes record.
Domenico Cecere trained and developed the handsome son of Walner at two and three.
“From a young age, Winners Bet showed he had the potential to be a great racehorse," said Cecere. "From the first day I sat behind him, I knew he would be a fast and powerful horse by the feeling he gave me. His temperament and great mind make him the complete package, and when you train a great and powerful horse like him, you have the best seat you will ever have.”
Nancy Takter, who assumed the training duties earlier this year to prepare for his four-year-old season, said, “It’s been a pleasure to train him this year. Not only is he absolutely gorgeous, but also a true gentleman to deal with. He’s a very sound horse and great gaited. As the fastest and richest son of Walner, he should be very sought after as a stallion.”
Winners Bet showed his versatility and extreme speed in one of the season’s best performances when he set a track record capturing the Charlie Hill Memorial Trot over Scioto Downs's five-eighths-mile oval in 1:50.4 (trotting his last three-quarters in 1:22.3 and last half in :53.1).
Driver Dexter Dunn said, “Winners Bet is a beautiful horse with a great gait and attitude. He was simply an awesome trotter to sit behind.”
Blue Chip Farms is looking forward to adding this decorated trotting stallion to its roster and celebrating his influence on the New York program and beyond in the coming years.
