On Wednesday, Nov. 6, more information was released for the stallion career of Legendary Hanover, who was retired due to injury last month.
Legendary Hanover, winner of this year’s Meadowlands Pace, Cane Pace and 2023 O’Brien Two-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year, will be syndicated and stand at Southwind Farms in Pennington, New Jersey beginning in 2025.
The brilliant son of Huntsville set multiple stakes and track records including this year’s Meadowlands Pace (p,3,1:46.3-'24), Cane Pace (p,3,1:46.2-’24) and the Empire Breeders Classic (p,3,1:48.1f-’24).
Trainer Anthony Beaton said, “Legendary Hanover is very intelligent, one of the smartest horses I’ve ever been around. He possessed a flawless and powerful gait and has a huge set of lungs.”
After setting the stakes record in the Meadowlands Pace, driver James MacDonald said, “He’s all business, he’s a scary animal that is simply very fast and talented.”
Southwind Farms' Laura Young is excited to have Legendary Hanover join the stallion roster, joining the likes Walner, Tactical Landing and others.
“With his looks, pedigree and performance, he is a natural fit for New Jersey and for Southwind Farms,” said Young.
Owned by Eric Good, West Wins Stable and Mark Dumain and trained by Beaton throughout his career, the 12-time winner retired with $1,480,635 in career earnings.
