Canada's current leading trainer by wins, Jodie Cullen, added another three wins on Wednesday evening, Nov. 6 at Flamboro Downs.
A $10,000 conditioned claiming pace for horses and geldings served as the Wednesday feature at Flamboro and Palladium Hanover won the mile from gate-to-wire for trainer Jodie Cullen.
Palladium Hanover and Ed Hensley took off from post five in the field of nine, securing the lead swiftly. The Cullen student controlled the timer in :26.4, :55.2 and 1:24.1 before continuing forward to win by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:53.4. Smooth Lou (Samuel Fillion) finished second and Wilcat Rocky (J Harris) completed the top three.
Paul Sanders and A1stable co-own the four-year-old gelded son of Artspeak out of The Panderosa mare Pilgrims Witchie. Palladium Hanover won his fifth race of the year and pushed his seasonal earnings to $53,889 in 36 starts. In his career of 69 starts, the gelding has tallied a record of 15-12-4 and banked $166,623. Sent off at 4-1 as the third choice, he paid $10.10 to win.
Cullen also won with Granite Beach ($2.50) in a $9,000 conditioned pace in 1:54.4 and Woodmere Stealdeal ($2.10) in a $7,000 conditioned pace in 1:53.2 with her son Travis Cullen holding the lines for both winners.
Jodie Cullen leads the win column in Canada with 194 training victories. She has also opened up a lead in the standings at Flamboro with now 73 wins over the season to date.
