Breeders Crown winner and world record holder Somwherovrarainbow fetched the highest price during the opening session of the 2020 Standardbred Horse Sales Company's 2020 Mixed Sale.
The Friday session was the first of two mixed sale sessions taking place at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Maryland. The second and final sale session is slated for Saturday (Nov. 7).
A regally-bred daughter of Horse of the Year winners Somebeachsomewhere and Rainbow Blue, Somwherovrarainbow was selling in foal to Always B Miki as part of Diamond Creek Farm's annual broodmare reduction. The hammer fell at $240,000 with Crawford Farms of Syracuse, N.Y. being the successful purchaser.
Live Laugh Love, another broodmare from the Diamond Creek reduction, was collared for $150,000 by Sweden's Robert Lindstrom, acting as agent. A sister to trotting star Enterprise from the family of O'Brien Award winner Poof Shes Gone, Live Laugh Love (Donato Hanover - Shes Gone Again) sold barren.
Lindstrom also signed the sales slip on Southwind Prius (Muscle Hill - Honey Pie) for $100,000. In foal to Cantab Hall, Southwind Prius is a full sister to stakes winner Southwind Hope from the family of Triple Crown Marion Marauder.
Rounding out the six-figure broodmare sales for the session was Chasin Clouds Away (Credit Winner - Habits Best). Selling in foal to Father Patrick, the sister to 2020 Breeders Crown winner On A Streak and millionaire Habitat will join the ranks at Hunterton Farm after fetching a $100,000 final bid.
