Kelly Hoerdt and Brandon Campbell asserted their dominance yet again at Fraser Downs, accounting for three-quarters of the winners on Wednesday's (Nov. 5) 12-race card.
Hoerdt, who sits atop the Fraser Downs training standings for the calendar year with 71 wins, was victorious with four of his trainees. He swept the early double with Century Gianna ($5.00, 1:57.1) and Thinkingofyoubabe ($4.30, 1:56.4) — both of whom he drove — before also taking the fourth race with Evermor Legacy ($4.00, Scott Knight, 1:57.1). Hoerdt completed his training grand slam by sweeping the exactor in the co-featured 11th race, a $5,400 optional claiming pace, in which Ragged But Right ($22.90, Allan Molloy) and Thankaverymuch (Hoerdt) finished one-two in a 1:55 mile.
Campbell, the top driver at both Fraser Downs and Century Downs, drove one of his own trainees to victory: Betterbegoodtome ($4.40, 1:56.1). He also teamed up with a pair of Jim Marino students in Big Little Lie ($3.50, 1:58.3) and What About Us ($4.00, 1:58.1), as well as David McKellar's Senseless Beauty ($5.60, 1:58) and Paul Urquhart's Thoughtful Gesture ($5.30, 2:00.1).
