Drive For Charity Raises Over $10K

The fifth annual Drive for Charity was made official on Saturday at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. Drivers and their business partners teamed up to raise money for local charities.

Here are the official totals:

• Gary Chappell – Daniel R Ross Ltd – Camp Gencheff - $1,000

• Marc Campbell – MacRae Backhoe and Trucking – IWK - $1,000
• Gilles Barrieau – Hansen Electric – Canadian Mental Health - $1,000
• Brian MacPhee – Meridian Farms – Kid Sport - $1,000
• Ken Murphy – Metro Home Building Centre – PEI Special Olympics - $1,000
• Kenny Arsenault – Syntrak Print & Graphic Design – Chances - $1,000
• Walter Cheverie – Ocean 100 – Olivia Ruth MacLeod Memorial Award - $1,000

Total money raised: $10,825

In other Saturday afternoon action, Clic K captured the featured event in 1:56.2.

Marc Campbell, who enjoyed a driving double on the day, hustled the pacer, owned by Plo Stables of Donagh, PE, and trained by Jackie Matheson, to the early lead and laid down fractions of :27.2, :56.1 and 1:25.3 before cruising home in :30.4 for his fifth victory of the year. Motorino (Terry Gallant) was second with Rash B Havior (Gary Chappell) rallying from seventh at the top of the stretch to complete the triactor.
