Favoured Mach It So finished what he started Saturday, Nov. 3, winning Yonkers Raceway’s $44,000 Open Handicap Pace.
Leaving from penultimate post-position five, Mach It So was stung by Techtor Hanover and was prompted to make the lead before a :27 opening quarter. He then rated to a :56 half before pole-assigned Control Tower moved first over from third.
Control Tower challenged in and out of a 1:24.1 three-quarters before backing away as Mach It So opened a length-and-three-quarter lead into the lane. He then held off Techtor Hanover by three-quarter lengths to win in 1:52.3. Voracity was a second-over third, with a pylon-skimming Great Vintage and Pacing Major N picking off the remainder.
Control Tower was last among the half-dozen.
For Mach It So, a double-millionaire Mach Three gelding owned by Bamond Racing and trained by Jeff Bamond Jr., it was his eighth win in 26 seasonal starts (career 48-for-146). Drivne by Joe Bongiorno, he paid $4.30 to win. The exacta paid $18.20, the triple returned $91.50 and the superfecta paid $273.
A reminder that Yonkers Raceway offers a matinee on Sunday, Nov. 4, with a first post of 11:35 a.m.
