Jamigo Takes Photo At 3R

Among several tight finishes on the program, Jamigo surged to a neck victory in the Preferred Trot over Holiday Party at Hippodrome 3R on Sunday, Nov. 4.

Headstrong R Rkadabra and driver Stephane Brosseau cut the mile from the start as usual with Holiday Party sitting the pocket seat. At the half mile marker, driver Daniel Laflamme sat first over with 10-1 Jamigo but did not gain much ground on the leaders. As they started down the backstretch, Berube elected to pull the pocket with Holiday Party and go after R Rhadabra past the three-quarter mile marker.

Laflamme used the outside cover for Jamigo and then tipped three wide on the turn to challenge new leader Holiday Party in the stretch. Jamigo outkicked Holiday Party to the line to win in 2:01 while Dance Hall George took third.

It was the fifth win this year for Jamigo. The 10-year-old gelding by Amigo Hall is trained and owned by Manon Lamothe of Terrebonne. He paid $22.50 to win.

The photo finish camera was again needed in the Preferred Pace.

Allstar Seelster and driver Tyler Jones began the show, stuffing Winsun Cheyenne in the pocket seat after battling to the first quarter in :27.2.

Comfortable on the lead, Allstar Seelster led to the half in :56.4 as Rainbow Palace came first over with Hoosier Shooter second over. Race-favourite Ufdragons Rocket as boxed in along the rail in fourth place.

After the three-quarters in 1:26, Allstar Seelster was still in command as Hooter Scooter tipped out three wide around the final turn.

As the field started down the stretch, driver Stephane Gendron moved off the rail with Ufdragons Rocket and weaved past four horses to win by a head over Windsun Cheyenne in 1:56.1. Allstar Seelster was third.

A nine-year-old gelded son of Dragon Again, Ufdragons Rocket is trained by Yves Tessier and owned by Francois Morin of Beauceville. It was his tenth victory of the year and he paid $4.90 to win.

Track Notes: Three drivers scored driving triples on the afternoon. They were Pascal Berube, Daniel Laflamme and Francis Picard. Elizabeth Carrier led all trainers with two wins.

On Saturday the Quebec Jockey Club announced that on Nov. 18 and Nov. 25, the last two race days of the season, drivers will not use whips on the cards' races.

Live racing resumes Sunday, Nov. 11 first race post time at 12:50 p.m.
