Living It Up stepped up into the top pacing class at Fraser Downs and overcame a trailing post nine start to claim the lion's share of the $12,500 purse on Sunday.

With Serge Masse catch-driving, Living It Up got away fifth from the trailing tier while Western Nitro (David McKellar) established the early lead from post two. However, his lead was short-lived as the parked out Tax Relief (Brad Watt) cleared to command past the :27.2 opening quarter mark.

As the field raced to the half in :57.3, Cash Account (Jim Marino) advanced first over from fourth with Living It Up following his cover. Cash Account took over command during the third panel leaving Living It Up first up.

From there, Living It Up pursued the top spot and edged by Cash Account at the 1:25.4 third quarter mark. He opened up a length and a half turning for home, but Cash Account came back on down the lane to narrow the winner's margin to half a length. The time of the mile was 1:55.4. Garden Gate Ll (James Burke) came on for third.

Living It Up paid $2.60 to win as part of the 1-5 favoured entry.

The seven-year-old Western Ideal gelding was claimed for $20,000 on Sept. 2 at Fraser by trainer Rod Therres, Jeffrey and Debbie Elchuk and Christopher Stranaghan. He has since won three of his seven races.

Living It Up now boasts 21 wins on his career resume and earnings totalling $132,750.

The victory in the eighth race feature was part of a driving double for Masse, which was sandwiched between a training-driving triple for David Hudon. Fraser's leading driver Jim Marino also scored back-to-back wins earlier on the card.
