The winning numbers for the Pick 7 were 4-4-6-9-1-6-2. This marked the second time that a winning Pick 7 ticket came from the Lewiston, Maine Hub. Coming into Wednesday night’s racing card, the jackpot had grown to $119,678.72.
Longshot Marietta Hall Wins Mares Open
Marietta Hall, a 14-1 longshot, won the $30,000 Open I Handicap Pace for fillies and mares at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs Wednesday night.
Driven by Andrew McCarthy and trained by Tracy Brainard, the five-year-old Cambest mare caught and nipped the front running Go On BB (Greg Grismore) right at the wire. Time of the mile was 1:52.2.
Go On BB, trained by Ron Burke and coming off an invitational win at Indiana Downs in 1:51.1, left quickly from the seven post to grab the lead, taking the seven-horse field to the opening quarter in :27, half in :56.2 and three-quarters in 1:24.2. Marietta Hall, owned by the Bulletproof Enterprises of Boca Raton, Florida, was fourth for the first-half of the mile and fifth at the three-quarters.
She was in high gear coming down the stretch to just win by about a head over the newcomer Go On BB with Ubetterthink Think, last week’s winner, finishing third in open company.
