After finishing up the track in a November 23rd road trip to Woodbine Racetrack, Acceptable Risk returned to the Preferred ranks at Western Fair Raceway on Monday and more importantly he returned to the winner’s circle
.
The six-year-old son of Intrepid Seelster entered the $13,500 tilt with 27-time winner, and Trevor Henry mapped out a trip that pushed his lifetime win total to 28 for the partnership of David Morrissey, Daniel McCann and William Woodburn.
Henry got away second with Acceptable Risk, but he had the Dan Morrissey trainee out and rolling on the way to the half. He cleared to the top without a tussle and proceeded to chop out middle panels of :58.4 and 1:29 before sprinting home in 29 seconds en route to the half-length score in 1:58.1. Secret Weapon, who was assigned post seven, rallied from last to finish second and The Steelman was third.
The lion’s share of the purse lifted Acceptable Risk’s lifetime earnings to $484,437.
Two races later in the $10,000 Preferred-2 Pace it was Ghost Hunter who front-stepped his way to a 1:55.3 decision for the tandem of driver Aaron Byron and trainer John Stergiou.
Byron put the six-year-old son of Astreos on the motor right from the word “Go”, and after laying down fraction of :28.1, :58.1 and 1:26.2 he finished off his foes with a :29.1 final quarter. It was one length back to runner-up Kaos Agent, with Kountry Luck taking home the show dough.
Rob Reid, Jr. of Dundalk, ON holds the papers on the gelding, who he claimed for $6,250 back in 2007. The pacer has stashed away more than $40,000 this season after banking in excess of $93,000 last year. To date he has potted $183,618.
