The curtain rises on another Tuesday evening of action at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway with a 13-dash program beginning at 6 p.m. (AST), headlined by a $5,100 Winners Over Pace in race 12.
The feature field has Brookdale Johnny as the 5-2 morning line favourite from post four fresh off a string of consistent efforts for trainer Phil Sizer and driver Paul Langille. Owned by Doug Polley Jr., and Doug Polley Sr., of Amherst, N.S., the six-year-old son of Rockin In Heaven-Brookdale Gia has carved out a solid 2025 campaign in the Island’s top pacing classes. Langille will look to work out a winning trip for the $156,000 career earner after defeating similar in three of his last four starts.
Sauble Attack has the outside post five for driver Ken Murphy and trainer Paul Biggar after upsetting last week’s main event with a thrilling closer in 1:55.
Doc Awesome will line up from post two with Corey MacPherson at the controls for trainer Darla MacEachern. He continues to fire strong miles, including five straight top three finishes.
Also in the field are newcomer PL Quicksand (Brady Sweet) in post one and Middleton Terror (David Dowling) in post three.
The "Backstretch Beat" selected Brookdale Johnny as the one to beat: “Brookdale Johnny has been a fixture in Summerside’s top events all season and lands in a favourable spot to add another win to his résumé. Paul Langille knows exactly how to handle him and his recent lines include sharp final quarters and solid 1:55 performances, proving he’s right where he needs to be form-wise.”
With the 2025 campaign entering its final stretch as the season is scheduled to close Nov. 11, David Dowling continues to lead all Summerside drivers with 55 wins and more than $210,000 earned, holding a .412 UDRS average. Corey MacPherson sits second with 53 wins and more than $250,000 in purse earnings, while Paul Langille holds third at 49 victories and $229,000 in earnings. Ken Murphy (43 wins) and Marc Campbell (39 wins) round out the top five in the standings.
On the training side, Earl Watts continues to dominate with 24 wins and more than $147,000 banked, maintaining a strong .340 UTRS. Phil Sizer sits second with 20 wins while Tammy Collings holds down third with 17 winners.
