Rose Memorial To Micrometerjack

Micrometerjack, with Corey MacPherson in the bike, won the David Rose Memorial final Sunday at Red Shores Summerside. It was a clean sweep of the Rose series, presented by Meridian Farms, for the gelding.

After winning both legs for trainer Gerald Dunn and owner Brian Foley of Charlottetown, PEI, Micrometerjack defeated a late-closing Lyndale Royal in a time of 1:57 in today’s final. Rebelforce rounded out the top three finishers.

The Rose consolation went to Gwinning Gwen and Jason Hughes in 2:00.2. The Stephen Quinn trainee took over the lead en route to the quarter when Ruby Vance made a break going down the backstretch. Once on top, Gwinning Gwen laid down fractions of :29.2, :59.4 and 1:29.4. The five-year-old mare owned by Tim Driscoll and Ellen and Tyson MacDonald held off late challenges from Macintosh and Rebelryan for her fourth win of the season.

Driver Jason Hughes recorded four winners on the program while Stephen Quinn had three training victories on the 12-dash card. Corey MacPherson notched a driving double.

The final card of the season at Summerside Raceway goes Sunday, November 10 at 1 p.m.
