Winning Mister, driven by David Ingraham and trained by Walter Carroll, never left the pylons in winning the $24,000 Open Handicap trot Tuesday at Pocono Downs
.
Leaving from post three in the nine-horse field, Winning Mister was the opening split leader in :27.2 before Grain Of Truth (Tom Jackson) took over command at the half in :57 seconds. A first-over move by George Napolitano, Jr. gave Dink Adoo a brief lead going down the backstretch before Jackson came out with Grain Of Truth. Three-quarters was timed in 1:25.4, with Winning Mister lurking nearby.
Ingraham came charging up the Pocono Pike (Passing lane) to win by 1-3/4 lengths over Grain Of Truth, with Dink Adoo finishing third. The race was clocked in 1:55 on a cold night in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
This was the fourth win in 30 starts for Winning Master, a four-year-old son of Angus Hall. Sent off as a 46-1 longshot, the trotter returned $95,80 to win.
