Manitoba stakes champion Racemup made his first start at Woodbine Mohawk Park a winning one on Thursday evening (November 29), taking a $16,000 conditioned pace in front-end fashion.

Partnering up with Doug McNair for the first time in his career, Racemup pocketed Agedchedar Hanover when that rival launched his bid on the backstretch then fought off the favoured Real Willey in a stretch duel to prevail by three-quarters of a length while taking a new lifetime mark of 1:53.2 over the 'good' track. Legal Bettor rounded out the top three finish order more than six lengths behind.

Racemup, the 5-1 third choice on the toteboard, had been racing at Western Fair throughout the fall under Ross Battin's tutelage before being claimed in his last start for $22,500 and joining the Anthony Montini stable. The sophomore son of Whatayasay is owned by Montini's wife Albina along with Kwong Sum Low and Pino Albanese.

Racemup, who went unraced at age two and started his career on the Manitoba fair circuit for breeder Arthur Rey, has won six of his 15 starts while earning $30,415 in purses.
