Margie Seelster made a last minute dash in the stretch to capture the $13,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Trot Saturday night at Georgian Downs.

In rein to Robert Shepherd, the six-year-old daughter of Angus Hall got away fifth as Enlighten Me (Steve Byron) left from the inside post. Thys Ballad (Anthony MacDonald) brushed up from third after the :29.1 opening quarter and carved out the middle panels of :59 and 1:28.1 as Jtlady Strong (Norm Jones) applied first-over pressure.

Locked in at the back of the pack, Margie Seelster waited until the stretch drive before pouncing. Coming home in :28.4, the odds-on favourite prevailed by a length in 1:58.3.

Gostreet (Lyle MacArthur) came on for second and last week’s winner, Ziggy Wiggy (Kelly Sheppard), finished third.

Margie Seelster made her 20th trip to the winner’s circle tonight increasing her bankroll to $224,727 for trainer and co-owner Kristofer Di Cenzo and owner John Baldasty of Oakville, Ont.
