Badgirl Bridgette kept the party going with another $4,650 Fillies and Mares Preferred 1 Handicap Pace win on Thursday, Nov. 27 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The two-time Atlantic Sires Stakes champion made it back-to-back Preferred victories with her third straight win for driver Jason Hughes and owner-trainer Bill Lanigan of Montague, P.E.I. Badgirl Bridgette ($4.40) did it with another polished front-end performance, laying down the splits of :28.2, :58, and 1:26.4 and stopping the clock in 1:55. Sweet Molly (Gilles Barrieau) was second by a length, and Windemere Saddy (Marc Campbell) snagged third.
Badgirl Bridgette tallied her 20th career victory and grew her earnings to $138,033 in 25 starts. The three-year-old daughter of Stonebridge Terror-Whatabadgirl dominated the sophomore stakes circuit this season and has since graduated to the top-level overnights. She is 14-for-18 overall on the year.
In the fourth race, Red Dirt Diamond ($5.40) stormed home to double up in the Joe & Steven MacRae Memorial Fall Series for pacing fillies and mares as she won the $4,000 second leg in 2:01.1. Brett Clow drove the five-year-old daughter of Source Of Pride-Oduya for owner-trainer Deanna Clow of New Haven, P.E.I. Ubettimagoodone (Jaycob Sweet) was 1-3/4 lengths back in second, followed by Elm Grove Nanci (Ken Murphy).
Whole Nother ($23) rallied to snag the $4,000 top conditioned trot in 1:59 in the ninth race for trainer Morgan Sheppard and driver Colin Sheppard, who co-owns the five-year-old gelding with Darcy Duffenais.
Sophomore filly Woodmere Honeymoon ($4.80) controlled every step to win the $3,700 P.E.I.S.H.O.A. Pace in the eighth race in 1:57.3 for trainer Carson Wilkie, driver Marc Campbell, and owner Christa Dunsford.
In the opener, the Nicholas Oakes-trained Sensational Gal ($2.70) delivered a commanding front-end score, wiring her rivals in 1:57.2 to kick off a triple for driver Gilles Barrieau. Barrieau got his second win in the seventh race as Therealprincess ($31) unleashed a furious :27.3 final quarter to upset the field in 1:56.2 for trainer Ron Matheson. The final part of the Barrieau triple came in race Race 10 as Sophies Cam ($6.40) caught pacesetter Tribal Dancer (Brodie MacPhee) from the pocket in 1:59.4 for trainer Rick Armstrong.
