P L Oliver took the short way around the track on Wednesday, Nov. 27 in the featured $10,500 conditioned pace for horses and geldings at Flamboro Downs with a gate-to-wire victory.
Travis Henry protected pylon position with the Matthew Dupuis student, zooming to the top and taking command of the timer in the feature. P L Oliver clicked out fractions in :27.2, :57.2 and 1:26.1 before continuing home to win by a half length in 1:55.4. Coligny Hanover (Daryl Thiessen) charged late in the stretch, but was bested at the wire. Better Be Gouda (Oisin Quill) completed the top three.
P L Oliver won his eighth race of the season in 32 starts and has produced $60,452 in earnings. In his career, the Sportswriter-P L Gotcha six-year-old gelding has a record of 25-39-23 from 135 races to go along with $254,158 banked. He paid $3 to win.
