Odds-on choice Acefortyfour Dome delivered a 2:03.4 victory to win the $3,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred 1 Pace at Charlottetown Driving Park on Saturday night (Nov. 26).
Trainer-driver Jason Hughes circled the five-year-old Up The Credit mare to the lead by a :29.1 first quarter and kept control from a parked-but-pressing Dollys Sky through a 1:00.4 half and 1:32.2 three-quarters. Acefortyfour Dome turned for home and took a length victory over closing Ladylike with pocket-sitter Tobins Brownie third.
Donald Mac Rae owns Acefortyfour Dome, a 25-time winner from 82 starts and an earner of $158,155. She paid $3 to win.
The four-year-old Angus Hall gelding Hallofaride went coast-to-coast in the $2,800 Open Trot. Janice Hubbard owns and trains Hallofaride, who posted a 5-1/2-length win in 2:05.2 to collect his seventh win and push his earnings to $17,119. Ken Murphy drove the homebred who paid $8.30 to win.
Woodmere Rollily rallied off a pocket trip to a 2:03.1 win in the $2,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred 3 Pace. The five-year-old daughter of Rollwithitharry dashed off a clip of :31.1, 1:02.1 and 1:33.1 set by Elm Grove Mistress to take a 1-1/2-length win over Ubettimagoodone to notch her 22nd win from 83 starts. Marsha Knox, Cory Livingstone and Kyla MacDonald own the Melissa Rennie trainee who has now earned $76,298. Corey MacPherson piloted the $4.20 winner.
A pair of $2,500 divisions went to gate for the PEIHRIA Autumn Series. Shifting Views (2:03.4 winning mile, $6.30 to win) took the first division going coast-to-coast in 2:03.4. Paul Conway owns and trains the five-year-old Big Jim gelding who had Corey MacPherson in the bike. Diamond Call (2:03.1, $2.10) also won going coast to coast in the other division, taking a quarter-length decision. Melissa Rennie trains the five-year-old Well Said gelding for owners Dale and Ronnie Rennie. David Dowling steered him to victory.
