After going winless in his first 12 starts of the season for trainer Mark Steacy, pacer Tuxedo Bay has recently turned things around in a big way.
The three-year-old son of Somebeachsomewhere-Spring Break picked up his fourth win in his last five starts thanks to a front-stepping score in the Monday evening feature at Woodbine Racetrack.
James MacDonald hustled Tuxedo Bay right to the front from Post 4 and the gelding successfully whacked out fractions of :27.2, :57 and 1:25.3 before using a :27.4 final frame to post the win in 1:53.2. Jimmys Secret was next best in the $19,000 affair, with Cinnabar Dragon taking home third prize.
The win gives Tuxedo Bay a 2017 record of 4-3-3 from 17 starts for the partnership of Steacy, Hudson Standrdbrd Stb Inc, Bertrand Gilhespy Stable and Dale Larson. The pacer has stashed away more than $60,000 this year and $87,185 to date.
