Sara Jane, a five-year-old pacing daughter of McArdle, jaunted off to a 7-1/2-length win in Friday's $10,800 Mares Open at Northville Downs with driver Kody Massey. Twenty minutes later, I Get It, a six-year-old trotting son of Dontyouforgetit, and owner/trainer/driver Bob Rowland went coast-to-coast to take the $10,800 Open Trot.
Launching off of the starting car in race seven from post position seven, Sara Jane (pictured above) grabbed the lead early and never looked back, seemingly opening up her lead the further the field travelled. Sara Jane set fractions of :28.1, :58.1 and 1:27 then stopped the timer in 1:56.2.
She is owned by Lases Racing and trained by Paul Cloer Jr. For Sara Jane, the win was her fifth on the season, second Open win in a row and her 11th career win. She now totes lifetime earnings of $138,582.
In race eight, I Get It and driver Bob Rowland followed suit, launching from the same post position seven, to clear to the front. Staving off a backstretch challenge by eventual runner-up Travlin Swan, I Get It never looked back, winning by a length in a final clocking of 2:00.
The win was I Get It ‘s 11th of 2022 and the 52nd of his career. His lifetime earnings are now $219,831.
Meanwhile, the night’s driving leaders were Kody Massey with three wins and Justin Irvine with two wins. Trainer Paul Cloer Jr. had a training double along with trainer Gerald Malady. Owner Lases Racing had an owning double on the night as well.
Live harness racing at Northville Downs resumes Saturday (Nov. 26) at 7:30 p.m. Northville Downs races every Friday and Saturday night from now through Dec. 17.
