Goliath Reigns Does Just That

Goliath Reigns ($6.80) lived up to his name on Sunday (November 26) at Truro Raceway, as the Dawn Ellis Abbott-trained and Todd Trites-driven gelding captured the track’s featured $1,575 Winners Over Pace going away in 1:58.1.

Goliath Reigns started from Post 4 in the eight-horse affair and sat fourth through the :27.4 opening quarter and :57.3 opening half.

After having been on the move in the third panel, the Goliath Bayama bay had a nose lead on fellow attacker Giant Slayer (driven by Kirk Parris) who was also out and on the hustle. The two sparred in a brief battle in the final quarter, although Goliath Reigns gained separation and was able to pace off to a four and a half-length win.

Giant Slayer finished second and Distinctiv Rusty (Ryan Ellis) finished third.

Ellis Abbott, who resides in Lower Onslow, NS, also owns Goliath Reigns.
