According to a report on forbes.com, for the first time ever, Jamaican racetracks will be open for business on Sundays, although off-track betting
locations will be closed.
The report states that the measure comes to help revive the economy and draw tourists to the races. The first Sunday race date is planned for this coming weekend (November 29 to be exact).
Church leaders are reportedly against Sunday racing. The forbes.com article states that the situation will be monitored as it goes along and that policy alterations may be made along the way.
