More than 10 lengths off the lead at the quarter pole in Friday's Preferred Handicap, Cheddar Bay circled the field of pacers to repeat at The Raceway at Western Fair District.

J Harris sent the outside assignee underway from the back of the pack after the opening quarter and progressed on cover before swinging three-wide from third-over down the backstretch the final time and catching the front-striding Pembrook Legancy N (:27.1, :57, 1:26.2) at the top of the lane. Cheddar Bay led through the stretch and held off the late-closing Beachin Lindy and Stephen Charlton at the finish, winning by half a length in 1:56 flat. Third prize went to the favourite, Homey Joe, who shot through the passing lane with Brett MacDonald in the bike.

Cheddar Bay was the 5-1 fourth choice in the field of eight and returned $13.20 to win.
