Two-year-olds were the stars of the show during Saturday’s card at Northlands Park, as filly pacers battled in the Snowflake Series and their male counterparts butted heads in the Snowshoe Series.

Peace Out Posse captured the first of the two $6,000 divisions of the Snowshoe Series thanks to his victory in 1:59.4 for trainer/driver Kelly Hoerdt. The son of Custard The Dragon-Artprize rallied from next-to-last to win over heavily favoured Yankee Up and President Elect.

Sent off at odds of 7-1, the homebred colt broke his maiden in his second go around for Hoerdt and partners Blair & Erna Corbeil of Beaumont, AB.

Mystery Coz showed no mercy to the foes he faced in the second division.

Keith Clark rolled pacer to the lead and after fractions of :29, :59.4 and 1:29.1 flashed up he used a final frame clocked in :30 to win by 12-1/4 lengths over Mystic Island in 1:59.1. Shaker Tank was third.

It was the second win in six attempts for the son of Mystery Chase-Cozamel who is owned and trained by Joe Ratchford. The rookie lifted his earnings to $21,062 with the win.

True Horizon came up big in the lone division for the fillies, and in doing so she managed to shed her ‘maiden’ status for trainer/driver Gerry Hudon.

He worked out a sweet, two-hole trip behind Ruths Crown Royal, who carved out fractions of :29.4, 1:00.1 and 1:30.4. True Horizon popped out in the lane and used a :30.3 closing quarter to win by a length over Risque Miss in 2:01.3. Over The Curb grabbed the show dough.

The daughter of Vertical Horizon-The Three Of Us, who was sent off at odds of 4-1, has banked $8,972 to date for Alberta partners Monica Hudon and Donald McDougall
