Narragansett and catch-driver Kenny Arsenault took top honours Sunday winning the afternoon feature event in 1:58.3 at Red Shores at Charlottetown Driving Park.
Heavy favourite Narragansett journeyed first over to win the $2,200 Preferred Pace by nearly two lengths. Lucky Encounter (Walter Cheverie) and Doll R General (Mark McKinnon) came on for second and third. The 7-4-2 triactor paid $40.80.
The victory was the fifth of the season from 23 starts for the four-year-old gelding, who is owned by Foxyhall Racing and trained by Jason Hughes.
Even-money favourite Zip The Lip won his third in a row with a gate-to-wire score in the $1,800 Open Trot. Brian MacPhee put the five-year-old trotter on the point and cruised through fractions of :30.1, 1:02.1 and 1:32.4 before stopping the timer in 2:02.2.
Donald Sweet trains for his co-owner Orville Willis. Caliban Hanover (Ronnie Gass) was the runner-up and Lyrical Lindy (Corey MacPherson) was third.
MacPhee came right back in the next race to record a driving double with the Paul Morrison-trained Zanzibar for Kathy Furness.
In other action, Saulsbrook Balance and Willie Murphy won the second trot feature. Walter Cheverie notched his 2,300th career win while Mark Bradley also bagged two winners on the card.
