A quarter-pole move to the lead proved to be the winning move for Rock Me Amastreos in Thursday’s $12,000 Preferred #2 Pace at Kawartha Downs

Driver Kyle Balson allowed the four-year-old son of Astreos-Queens Arms to get away fourth from the pole position starting spot before accelerating to the lead and laying down middle splits of :57.1 and 1:26.3. Rock Me Amastreos kicked out a :28.1 closing panel to win by 4-1/2 lengths over Rock The Wind, with third prize going to a rallying Oliver Jackson.
Sent off as the 3-5 favourite, Rock Me Amastreos had no problem improving his 2011 record to 4-5-4 in 32 starts. Bred and owned by David Snowden of Bowmanville, ON, the pacer has banked $133,620 to date.
