Apache Dame, last season's 'Horse of the Meet' at Dover Downs, continued her top form collecting a 1:52.3 victory in Tuesday’s $27,000 Filly and Mare Open Handicap over the Dover oval, while teamster Ross Wolfenden
recorded six wins on the card.
With regular driver Ross Wolfenden at the controls for his fourth consecutive win on a six-win night, Apache Dame took command on the backstretch and with a :28.4 final panel picked up her 10th victory of the campaign for owners Paul McDougall and WJ McDougall Racing in 1:52.3.
The eight-year-old daughter of Apaches Fame-Amerissa returned to racing last year after giving birth to a foal and quickly returned to top form for trainer Peter Tritton. Apache Dame has now won $140,907 this year.
Donttellmewhattodo kept her record perfect in four starts at the track taking the $23,000 Mares Jr. Open for Ross Wolfenden's sixth win on the card. The six-year-old D M Dilinger-Murder Of One mare fought off a backstretch-long challenge from Firiel Hanover and then held off a cavalry charge from behind at the wire in 1:53.3 for her ninth win of the season.
The Charles Cochran-trainee upped her seasonal earning to $127,957 for owners Darryl Gombert, Jeff Rose and Hankook Stable.
