Fix A Drink Earns Preferred Triumph At Rideau

Fix A Drink battled from the outside for most of the mile to win the $10,000 Preferred Handicap Trot on Thursday, Nov. 23 at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

From post eight, Jimmy Gagnon took the Pierre Leclerc trainee into fifth as Duke Lavictoire (Pascal Berube) clicked the opening panel in :28.1. While Duke Lavictoire continued as the pacesetter, Fix A Drink pulled first over through the half in :57.3 and three-quarters in 1:27.1. Going into the top of the stretch, Fix A Drink achieved the lead and kept on going to win by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:59. Stella Alpha (William Roy) finished second and Crossfit (Guy Gagnon) rounded out the top three. 

Fix A Drink is a six-year-old gelding co-owned by breeder Shaun Baines and trainer Pierre Leclerc. The son of Angus Hall-Tara Emerald won his eighth win of the season and 19th career victory. He moved his lifetime bankroll to $95,076. He paid $3.30 to win.
