Six Straight For Oney Hall

Extending his winning streak to six-in-a-row didn’t figure to be easy for Oney Hall considering he was moving up the Preferred level in his quest to do it, but he did it – and he did it impressively.

With Sylvain Filion at the controls for the first time, Oney Hall got away sixth and watched P L Jill roll to the lead and put up an opening quarter clocked in :27.2. Race favourite Hey Livvy, who came away fourth, was on the move as soon as the field entered the backstretch.

She brushed powerfully to the lead and took the field to the half in :56.3. Filion was hot on the heels of that mare when she moved, and the two trotting titans hooked up in a final turn battle. They opened up on the others at the three-quarter pole in 1:24, and after battling through the lane it was Oney Hall who used a :29.3 closing panel to prevail by 1-3/4 lengths over Grandma Heidi in 1:53.3. Hey Livvy weakened late and settled for third prize.

Bob McIntosh trains the four-year-old son of Deweycheatumnhowe-On With The Show for owner Alan Leavitt of Lexington, KY. The gelding is now 8-for-11 this season and 13-for-43 in his career. The lion’s share from the $36,000 Preferred triumph bumped his bankroll to $131,847.
